Industrial Cooling Towers, recently completed a highly successful project at Harmony Gold mine in South Africa. The project involved the installation of a 4100kw Bulk Air Cooler that was designed to cool 140kg of air per second down the cast shaft at a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius. The Harmony Gold mine is one of the largest gold mines in South Africa, producing over 1.3 million ounces of gold annually. With such a high level of production, it is essential that the mine's equipment and infrastructure are operating at peak efficiency at all times. The mine’s down-cast shaft is a critical component of the operation, and it was essential to ensure that the air entering the shaft was cool enough to prevent equipment damage and ensure worker safety. Since the installation of the Bulk Air Cooler, the Harmony Gold mine has seen a significant decrease in the combined air temperature leading to the underground operations. The success of this project is a testament to the expertise and dedication of the Industrial Cooling Towers team, together with the client and other roleplayers.
